Villa Ticca: Child care in Ecuador
In 2002 Evelyn Kremer and Mariska Versteegh met in Ecuador where they both worked as volunteers. The confrontation with the severe shortage of help for minors and single mothers in Quito struck them deeply. Aimlessly and without a future and hope they go through life. The hands were stuck together and the foundation "Ninos the WaitaTicca" was soon a fact. Now, in 2015, the foundation exists 12 years.
100 children in the age of 0-12 years are being helped in Ecuador. The children are educated, fed, clothed and taken care of, and they receive medical and psychological help. The after school group ensures that the older children can continue their studies. Villa Ticca also tries to advise mothers and families about nutrition and training. Villa Ticca provides for their children a safe place!
